Using real-world problems, learn how to make repeatable legal work scalable, consistent and cost-effective using Lean Sigma techniques. This “how-to” workshop will give you the foundational tools you need to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of legal service delivery.

In today’s digital economy, lawyers increasingly find themselves being asked to handle large volumes of repeatable work. The foundation for doing so in a scalable, consistent and cost-effective manner lies in establishing an optimized process that begins with the client’s request and ends with a completed work product.

This intensive 1 -1/2 day workshop is designed to teach you how to use Lean Sigma techniques to create and optimize processes for handling volume legal work. The workshop uses a real-world problem set to guide participants through each phase of the Design-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control (DMAIC) methodology. 2020 is the year to move forward by acquiring the knowledge and skills you need to create efficiencies in your legal practice or department – efficiencies that clients are increasingly coming to expect.

Topics include:

  • How Lean Sigma techniques deliver value, efficiency and greater predictability
  • Understanding and applying the key phases of process optimization: – Design; Measure; Analyze; Improve; Control (DMAIC)
  • Tools for problem definition
  • Using process improvement templates
  • Change management strategies: overcoming obstacles to change
  • Current state mapping
  • Data measurement – key concepts
  • Root cause analysis tool: the 5 whys
