A Leader in lifelong legal learning
Contact Us

The education environment you work within is more demanding than ever. The Ontario school system and its governing legal framework continues to evolve as new challenges arise. As an educator, administrator, Supervisory Officer, Board official, Trustee or lawyer, you need a clear understanding of the laws that govern the education system. Failure to understand or keep current have serious and potentially costly ramifications.

This OsgoodePD program has been developed by education law experts to provide you with an understanding of the most pertinent legal issues that confront educational leaders and their legal advisors. You will acquire knowledge and strategies which you can apply immediately. The program written materials will act as a valuable resource long after the course is over.

Topics will include:

  • Equity and anti-racism in the education context
  • How the Charter and Human Rights Code impact your day-to-day decisions
  • Student discipline best practices on the front lines
  • Privacy rights and access to information in the education setting
  • Family law and child protection issues affecting schools
  • Police protocols & the Youth Criminal Justice Act
  • First Nations Education
  • Current issues facing schools
