Already have a good grounding in Special Education Law but looking for more?

As you face increasing challenges in responding to the growing numbers of special needs students and their unique needs, you need to ensure you have a good understanding of their challenges, have a complete grasp of the obligations you face and have a toolkit of best practices to guide your daily actions.

Growing from our annual Special Education Conference, this advanced session will take us beyond the law, to focus on those complex and challenging special education matters you face and how you can address them and ensure you are meeting the obligations of staff and students including:

  • Challenges around student discipline & safety including exclusion matters
  • Health and safety challenges for staff
  • Human rights & anti-black racism in the context of special needs students
  • Indigenous education and the special education portfolio
  • Cannabis in schools and the impact on special education
  • Special education funding challenges
  • Post-secondary transition planning
  • Streaming/academic pathways

  • Dr. Sharon Pyke, Superintendent of Education – Student Well-Being, Greater Essex County District School Board
