This course introduces the fundamental concepts of Islamic finance. First of all, the concept of Islamic economics is discussed. It provides the overview of Islamic finance and the relevant Shari’ah principles and contracts. It further explains the Islamic banking and finance products and services as well as challenges and issues in Islamic banking. Risk, risk management and insurance are briefly introduced. Regarding Takaful (Islamic insurance), its products and services, models and relevant issues are elaborated. Islamic capital market is also discussed in this course and finally, the governing standards for Islamic financial institutions are presented.
