Rahim Punjani is trade counsel with the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation & Trade. In this capacity, Rahim provides advice on trade negotiations, trade and investment disputes and the consistency of government measures with the trade obligations of Ontario and Canada.
He brings a mix of legal, academic, and policy experience in the area of international trade and investment law. Rahim completed his LLB at the University of Windsor in 2007, clerked at the Federal Court, and worked in private practice with national firms as a litigator and a research lawyer. In 2011, he obtained a Master of Laws in International Economic Law from Georgetown University Law Centre, and was a student fellow at the Institute of International Economic Law.
Prior to commencing his legal career, Rahim obtained NAFTA and WTO trade policy experience with the then Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, in Mexico City and Ottawa, as well as with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.
