Kerry Watkins

Kerry Watkins spent 30-years in law enforcement where for the majority of his career he was a criminal investigator in specialized units including homicide, financial crimes, and professional standards. Kerry was the principal investigative interviewing instructor at the Toronto Police College from 2012 until his retirement in 2018. In 2017, Kerry was granted the Chief of Police Award of Excellence for his contribution to interviewing education and practice in Canada. He is the primary author of the texts Interviewing and Investigation (3rd Emond, 2017); and, Evidence and Investigation (2nd Emond, 2019). Kerry’s formal education includes a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and criminology, and a Master’s degree in criminology, both from the University of Toronto; and a Master of Laws degree in criminal law and procedure from Osgoode Hall Law School. he is a full-time professor at Humber College, a faculty and advisory committee member of the Graduate Diploma in Law for Law Enforcement at Osgoode Professional Development and Director of the Interview Group Inc. which provides investigative interviewing skills training and support to organizations in both the public and private sector.
