"I went to law school so that I didn’t have to work with numbers."

We understand. We’re here to help.

Now in its 14th year, this interactive program is specifically tailored for legal professionals. It will provide you with comprehensive and practical guidance in order to effectively analyze financial reports in your practice.

You’re a legal professional who is called upon to provide advice that entails analyzing or interpreting financial statements. In order to effectively protect your clients’ interests, you have developed a sound understanding of financial statements and accounts, along with how such financial reports are used.

If this description doesn’t (yet) reflect your skillset, our program will help to develop these analytical skills. John Friedlan will review complex concepts in a clear and interactive manner and you will receive practical guidance on how to analyze and interpret a financial report.

The program includes:

  • An overview of the financial reporting framework in Canada and its key components
  • The roles and responsibilities of the key players in the financial reporting process
  • An in-depth examination of key financial statement components
  • Interactive exercises and a case study to demonstrate proper analysis and interpretation of a financial report in a practical and efficient manner, which you can immediately apply in your practice
  • Clarifying accounting jargon and terminology
  • Red flags: tips and techniques to uncover hidden assets and liabilities
  • Determining key financial ratios and evaluating a company’s performance
  • Understanding off-balance sheet items
  • How to interpret and analyze the Notes to Financial Statements

You’ll complete the program with an increased confidence as well as the tools and techniques you need to better prepare yourself when dealing with financial statements and concepts.
