Applying
Most specializations run on a 1 or 2 year cycle. The General program can be commenced in September, January or May. For more information, see Program Start Dates.

Requirements
To be considered for admission, you must meet the following minimum requirements:
- An LLB degree with an overall B average (or equivalent) or relevant experience (typically five years) plus an LLB degree with an overall B- or C+ average.
A limited number of places are available for candidates with a university degree who have superior academic records and experience but who do not have an academic degree in law.
- Proof of language proficiency for applicants who do not meet one of the following criteria:
- their first language is English; OR
- they have completed at least two years of full-time study at an accredited university in a country (or institution) where English is the only official language of instruction.
To fulfill the language proficiency requirement applicants can sit for on of the following tests: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or the YELT (York English
Language Test). Applicants relying on TOEFL must sit the test that includes the TWE (Test of Written English) component; for TOEFL, the minimum acceptable score is 600 (paper-based) or 250 (computer-based), iBT
100, as well as 5 on the TWE component. Applicants relying on YELT must score in Band 1. Applicants must
arrange to write one of these tests on their own.

An alternative test is the UK-based International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The minimum acceptable
