WENDY SUTTON, BA, LLB, LLM, is a Toronto lawyer (Osgoode Hall Law School: LLB, 1997; LLM, 2001 (health law)) called to the Bar in 2000. In May 2009, Wendy was appointed as a Vice Chair (part-tIme) to the Ontario Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal. Since 2007, she has acted as an Independent Security Advisor to the Minister of Transport on the Passenger Protect Program and the Marine Transportation Security Clearance Program. In 2004, Wendy was appointed legal Chair of the Canada Pension Plan/Old Age Security Review Tribunal. She has also served as public member of the Interim Regulatory Council on Midwifery (1989-1992) and from 2006 to 2009 was Deputy Registrar (Acting) and Director, Professional Practices for the College of Dental Technologists of Ontario.

Wendy is the President of WM Sutton Consulting Inc., in Toronto, involving consulting, research, writing and education in health law, and its division Just Associates, which specializes in consulting on issues of sexual abuse and harassment prevention.  She is also a Principal of COER.CA, specializing in online interactive educational seminars for the health/non-profit sectors. 

Wendy is an Affiliate Member of the York University Centre for Health Studies, Associate Director of Osgoode Professional Development's part-time LLM in Health Law and is co-author of Preventing Sexual Abuse of Patients - a legal guide for health care professionals (with Marilou McPhedran, 2004).

Wendy has served on numerous Boards, most recently with the Michener Institute of Applied Health Sciences (chair); and the Toronto Birth Centre, Inc. (president), Women’s College Hospital, Sunnybrook Hospital and 416 Drop-In Centre.

In 2004, Wendy was awarded the City of Toronto Volunteer of the Year Award and in 2007, nominated for the YWCA Women of Distinction Award.
