MITCHELL KOWALSKI, BA, MA, LLB, LLM
For much of his legal career, Mitchell Kowalski practiced law with the Toronto office of international legal giant Baker & McKenzie, before moving to one of the oldest, mid-sized law firms in Toronto: Aylesworth LLP. He was also part of the in-house legal department of the City of Toronto and Director of Residential Title Insurance Services at First Canadian Title, Canada’s largest title insurance provider. He is a former instructor for the Ontario Bar Admissions course and is the author of a number of law-related publications. From 2002 – 2004 he was the author and editor of the LexisNexis Butterworths publication, Canadian Forms and Precedents: Commercial Real Estate Financing. In 2008-09, he taught the Real Estate Transactions Course for the LLM program at Osgoode Professional Development. He is a member of the Board of Directors for Ontario Realty Corporation and maintains a small private law practice in Toronto where he lives with his wife and 3 children.
Mitchell Kowalski also owns and operates Toronto Writers’ Centre and writes freelance articles on a variety of legal and non-legal topics. His pieces have appeared in Lexpert Magazine, National Magazine, The Advocate, The Hong Kong Law Journal, The Globe and Mail, and The National Post. He blogs regularly on legal matters for The National Post’s blog, The Legal Post, selected as one of the top legal blogs in North America.
Mitchell Kowalski received his BA, MA and LLB from The University of Western Ontario. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1991 and to the British Columbia Bar in 1998. He received an LLM from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2001. He graduated from the Directors Education Program run by The Rotman School of Management at University of Toronto and has an ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
