KATE DEWHIRST is a partner with the Toronto law firm Dykeman Dewhirst O'Brien LLP providing health law, policy and administration consulting services. In
addition to her law degree, Kate has a Masters degree in Health Services
Administration.

Kate consults to a wide range of health sector clients on issues dealing
with: governance and by-laws; risk management; privacy, confidentiality and
health records; contracts; clinical policy; physician privileges (including
disruptive physician management); regulation of health professionals;
research and research ethics; and mental health and addictions issues. She
also assists her clients with position statements, policy papers and
legislative change initiatives.

Kate is a regular speaker at Osgoode Professional Development, the Ontario Bar
Association, Canadian Institute and Insight Conferences as well as hospital
and university sponsored events. Dykeman Dewhirst O'Brien LLP runs a "Health
Law Prescription Series" offering concrete practical conferences and on-site
training. She is Editor-in-Chief of "Risk Management in Canadian Health
Care", Lexis Nexis (with her law partner Mary Jane Dykeman) and sits as an
Executive Member of the Ontario Bar Association Health Law Section. She also
sits as a volunteer member on the Rouge Valley Health System Research Ethics
Board.
