To be considered for a scholarship, applications must be submitted by January 15. The application deadline for admission is March 31, however, applications received
after the deadline are subject to consideration provided all application documentation is complete.
This program is intended for students who are not citizens or permanent residents of Canada. Applicants who are citizens or permanent residents of Canada may apply by exception, requesting special consideration. This program does not qualify students to practice law in Canada.
Admission Criteria and Procedures
Minimum Admission requirements are:
- Completion of a degree in law (or a related area - eg.
international trade,finance, political studies, economics,
etc.) from a four year program in anaccredited institution outside Canada with a minimum B (75%) average
- Proof of language proficiency for applicants who do not meet one of the following criteria:
- their first language is English; OR
- they have completed at least two years of full-time study at an accredited university in a country (or institution) where English is the only official language of instruction.

In a very limited number of cases, applicants may be admitted to this LLM program with a first degree in a discipline other than law. Such applicants must have a superior academic record. The goal of admitting students without formal qualifications in the study of law is to encourage interdisciplinary studies involving law, such as public administration and law, or economics and law.
Applicants are required to submit:
- Completed application form accompanied by a non-refundable
$100 CAD application fee
- TWO OFFICIAL transcripts from every university or
college you have attended where a grade was received.
If transcripts are in a language other than English or
French, official translations are required. Transcripts
must be sent to us directly from the university.
- Résumé
- Two completed Reference Forms (at least one must be
an academic reference)
- Personal statement outlining goals and interests in
relation to the program (250 – 300 words)
- A personal interview, in-person or by telephone, is
required for students with a first language other than
English.
NOTE: The LLM in International Business Law is available
only as a full-time program and does not qualify
graduates to practise law in Canada.
