This course provides an introduction to some of the issues and problems relating to law and the family. It explores the fundamental relation between law and the family institution; and the nature of the family (and its members) as a legal institution. The course also examines criteria for assessing legal policies that affect legislative and judicial choices about the legal regulation of families and family members, and engages with some of the legal theory in this area.
