Rio Tinto / Little Salmon Teleseminar Archive

Originally held on December 14, 2010, this teleseminar is now available for purchase either as an on-line audio stream with downloadable link to materials; or on CD-Rom (audio archive with program materials).

The Supreme Court of Canada released two pivotal decisions last year on the duty to consult First Nations, perhaps marking the most important developments in this area of the law since Haida Nation and Mikisew . The issues in these cases are right at the core of the evolving aboriginal law jurisprudence. In Rio Tinto, the Court also discussed the jurisdiction of tribunals in relation to the duty to consult.

A thorough understanding of both Rio Tinto and Little Salmon/Carmacks will be critical for lawyers advising all levels of government, First Nations, senior policy makers, those who practice in the resource use area, and resource company executives, as well administrative law lawyers and tribunal counsel. Get an expert briefing on these important decisions.
