Bridgetown, Barbados, is closer to Brazil than it is to the Osgoode Hall Law School’s campus in Toronto, but the distance across the Atlantic Ocean didn’t pose any difficulties for Marlon Yarde to earn his LLM in Securities Law from the Canadian university.
Fareen Jamal, principal at Jamal Family Law in Oakville, Ont., admits that she’s been surprised how much earning her LLM at Osgoode Hall Law School has boosted her career. “I knew that family law was my niche, and I really just wanted a more in-depth knowledge of my chosen field,” she says. “I didn’t really expect it to affect my career the way that it did. It really boosted my profile within the profession.”
Like many LLM students, Elizabeth Hyde was looking for a change of direction in her career. “I was moving my practice from more litigation-based to a mediation practice, so I wanted the extra credentials,” she says. She earned those credentials by taking OsgoodePD’s LLM in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
